I do figurative paintings based on the Kurdish culture and oppression. I create my own poems and quotes into my artwork as well and I write them in Kurdish (Kurmanji), I write in Kurdish because my language is illegal in Turkey and also because it leaves some people questioning what it means. I paint with oil paints on canvas but I also paint on mirrors and glass because I’m interested in reflection, as people look at my artwork they can also see their own reflection.
